Great introduction to Cambridge

As an American expat, I thought these podcast walking tours are a phenomenal introduction to Cambridge. In past tourist trips to England I spent a few hours walking the streets and taking a punting tour (also recommended). But now that I live about an hour away, I wanted to get to know the city better. Before our trip, we looked around online for a traditional walking tour that would give a good general introduction to Cambridge, but nothing we found seemed quite suited for us. Then my wife found these. So glad she did.

We had time for 3 of the 4 on our short overnighter there (plan to do the 4th the next time we go). Though they each have a subject emphasis, taken together they effectively use exposition and story telling to give an overview of its history, how the university system works, what student life is like, and so on.

When listening to the description at each stop, it's a good idea to keep one eye on your phone screen. They include various pictures and graphical content that adds content to the words and aids in contextual understanding. And many times, they show a street view with arrows showing where to go next — very helpful.

If they make more tours for Cambridge, I hope they make one focused on the architecture. That's one part of the Cambridge experience that was a little too light for my liking.

For a fraction of the price of a traditional walking tour, you get 2 to 4 times amount of tour
